Actl6b Regulates Cell Proliferation and Survival

ACTL6B (ARP-N伪) is a protein that is expressed in various tissues and cells in the body. It is a part of the cytoskeleton and is involved in the regulation of cell division and differentiation. The protein is also known as tyrosine-protein kinase (Tpk) alpha-2 and is a key regulator of cell proliferation and survival.

In recent years, the role of ACTL6B in the regulation of cancer growth and progression has gained significant attention. Several studies have shown that ACTL6B plays a negative role in the development and progression of various types of cancer, including breast, lung, and ovarian cancer.

One of the key functions of ACTL6B is its role in the regulation of cell proliferation. The protein is known to play a negative role in the G1 phase of cell division, which is the stage of cell growth and preparation for cell division. During the G1 phase, ACTL6B promotes the inhibition of the protein p21, which is a key regulator of cell growth and division. This inhibition of p21 allows ACTL6B to promote the growth and proliferation of cells.

In addition to its role in cell proliferation, ACTL6B is also involved in the regulation of cell survival. The protein has been shown to play a negative role in the regulation of cell apoptosis, which is the process by which cells die and are removed from the body. ACTL6B promotes the inhibition of the protein Bcl-2, which is a protein that can prevent cell apoptosis. This inhibition allows ACTL6B to promote the survival and proliferation of cells.

The role of ACTL6B in the regulation of cell differentiation and regeneration is also of interest. The protein has been shown to play a positive role in the regulation of stem cell proliferation and the development of tissues. In addition, ACTL6B has also been shown to play a negative role in the regulation of tissue regeneration after injury or disease.

In conclusion, ACTL6B is a protein that is expressed in various tissues and cells in the body and is involved in the regulation of cell division, proliferation, and survival. The protein has been shown to play a negative role in the development and progression of various types of cancer and has also been shown to play a positive role in the regulation of stem cell proliferation and tissue regeneration. As a result, ACTL6B is a potential drug target and biomarker for the treatment of various types of cancer.

Protein Name: Actin Like 6B

Functions: Involved in transcriptional activation and repression of select genes by chromatin remodeling (alteration of DNA-nucleosome topology). Component of SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complexes that carry out key enzymatic activities, changing chromatin structure by altering DNA-histone contacts within a nucleosome in an ATP-dependent manner. Belongs to the neuron-specific chromatin remodeling complex (nBAF complex), as such plays a role in remodeling mononucleosomes in an ATP-dependent fashion, and is required for postmitotic neural development and dendritic outgrowth. During neural development a switch from a stem/progenitor to a postmitotic chromatin remodeling mechanism occurs as neurons exit the cell cycle and become committed to their adult state. The transition from proliferating neural stem/progenitor cells to postmitotic neurons requires a switch in subunit composition of the npBAF and nBAF complexes. As neural progenitors exit mitosis and differentiate into neurons, npBAF complexes which contain ACTL6A/BAF53A and PHF10/BAF45A, are exchanged for homologous alternative ACTL6B/BAF53B and DPF1/BAF45B or DPF3/BAF45C subunits in neuron-specific complexes (nBAF). The npBAF complex is essential for the self-renewal/proliferative capacity of the multipotent neural stem cells. The nBAF complex along with CREST plays a role regulating the activity of genes essential for dendrite growth. ACTL6B/BAF53B is not essential for assembly of the nBAF complex but is required for targeting the complex and CREST to the promoter of genes essential for dendritic growth (By similarity). Essential for neuronal maturation and dendrite development (PubMed:31031012)
